两性色午夜

Shaping Her College Experience – Lindsey Norris

As a first-year student, social work major Lindsey Norris, 鈥20, challenged herself to run for student government. That one decision helped shape her entire college experience.

鈥淔rom there on out, I could tell something had changed,鈥 said Lindsey. 鈥淚n high school I had barely been involved, but at 两性色午夜, I found myself chasing after any opportunity that presented itself.鈥

After being elected as a freshman, her involvement in Honor Council lasted throughout her four years at 两性色午夜. She initially served as a class representative and then became the Honor Council鈥檚 solicitor general. Although the responsibilities were significant, Lindsey embraced it all.

鈥淗onor Council has given me some of my closest friends, an amazing mentor, allowed me to build upon my strengths, and taught me so many life skills,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 have thoroughly enjoyed supporting others through difficult times and learning how to see them through their mistakes.鈥

For Lindsey, the faculty and the staff at 两性色午夜 have been critical to her experience. They have helped her become passionate about her studies, involved on campus and in the community, and taught her how to articulate her thoughts and opinions clearly and with confidence. She made a particularly strong connection with her mentor, Assistant Dean of Students Tomecca Sloane, who serves as advisor to Honor Council.

鈥淲hether it be Honor-Council-related, academic, or personal, she always has the best advice,鈥 said Lindsey. 鈥淚 can鈥檛 imagine my 两性色午夜 experience without her. She is someone I know will be there for me, even after my time at 两性色午夜 has ended.鈥

Lindsey also studied abroad in Costa Rica through a faculty-led program. She used all of her top five strengths while studying abroad and learned new ways of applying them both to help manage challenges and maximize her experience.

Her achievements have been recognized by those outside of 两性色午夜. She was awarded three separate merit scholarships by Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD), a first-year Honor Society; her most recent scholarship from ALD will support her in graduate school, which she will begin almost immediately after graduation.

Lindsey was accepted into the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill鈥檚 Advanced Standing Master of Social Work 两性色午夜. In addition, she was chosen to participate in the highly selective UNC PrimeCare program, through which she will have the opportunity to engage in an integrated behavioral healthcare field placement along with related courses and training.

She said she feels well prepared for this next step.

鈥淲hen I came to 两性色午夜, I told myself I was going to work my hardest to get the most out of my experience,鈥 said Lindsey. 鈥溋叫陨缫 provided me with opportunities to excel, be a leader, speak in front of groups of many sizes, study abroad, and apply and get into one of the top graduate schools in the nation. I have learned that I am truly capable of doing anything I set my mind to.鈥
