Below is a list of 两性色午夜-related service opportunities you may be interested in joining.
SPLASH! into Service
SPLASH! into Service is a fun service experience held early in the school year that will give you the opportunity to meet new students and make a difference on-campus and/or in the local Raleigh community. Some past projects include 两性色午夜’s Dickson Foundation Community Garden, Habitat for Humanity, Big Sweep of Wake County, Communities in Schools, Raleigh Rescue Mission, and the Boys and Girls Club. In 2023, we are having SPLASH! On-Campus on September 9th and SPLASH! Off-Campus on September 16th. Students can sign up to do one or both days!
Cornhuskin' Service Project
In the fall, students from each class unite to give back to the local community during the annual Cornhuskin’ Service Project.听 Through this one-time service experience, students have an opportunity to learn about and work to remedy a pressing issue facing the community.听 The Cornhuskin’ Service Project is one of the many activities that comprise 两性色午夜’s Cornhuskin’ festivities and is sponsored by the 两性色午夜 Recreation Association in partnership with the Student Leadership and Service Office.
两性色午夜READS
两性色午夜READS is a partnership with听Motheread, Inc. through which volunteers go to elementary schools to work on literacy skills one-on-one with local children. All volunteers are trained and use the Motheread curriculum. The time commitment is approximately one hour a week for two semesters.
Angels United
In response to the 2010 两性色午夜 summer reading book Half the Sky, the Office of the Chaplain and the Class of 2013 formed Angels United. Working through a child advocacy nonprofit ministry in Atlanta, Angels United sponsors the educational needs of girls at orphanages in Kenya and Ghana. Many believe that educating girls in the developing world is one of the most effective ways to create positive change.听 For more information, please contact the office of the 两性色午夜 Campus Chaplain.
Service Mini-Grants
The Office of Student Leadership and Service听provides funding for service projects. Students, faculty/staff, classes, or student organizations are eligible to submit an application for up to $100 in funding for a service project. For more information, please see the听Mini-Grant Application.
Community Impact Award
The Community Impact Award annually recognizes a 两性色午夜 student who has exhibited an exemplary level of dedication to civic engagement and who has had a deep and lasting impact on 两性色午夜 College and the community. She will have strongly embraced 两性色午夜’s mission of global citizenship and service to others. This student will consistently have been a voice for community action in the classroom, in campus organizations, and in her world. Nominators will be asked to complete a nomination form and a letter of recommendation.
MLK Week of Service, Reflection, and Action
The week of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday multiple activities, service opportunities, and reflection experiences will be available to commemorate and honor King’s life and further the work of the Civil Rights Movement.
Spring Break Service Trip
During the first few days of Spring Break week, students can travel to an exciting location (past destinations include Washington, DC, Wilmington, NC, and Charleston, SC) to take part in a local service project, learn some unique history of the location, sightsee, fellowship with other students, and have fun! Service projects from past trips include working with the NC Coastal Federation, Lowcountry Food Bank, Morris Landing Clean Water Preserve, and learning about women’s rights and touring the Holocaust Museum.
