2025 两性色午夜 College Documentary Film Festival to be Held January 26

The 两性色午夜 College Documentary Film Festival will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in Kresge Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

For 两性色午夜 students, the film festival qualifies as an Academic and Cultural Event in General Education.

This year鈥檚 festival features six documentaries. The screening schedule is as follows:聽

2 p.m.聽 Part One

Won鈥檛 You Be My Dumpling (10 minutes)
Director: Jinna Kim

A delightful short documentary, this celebration of the dumpling shows that they can come in different forms but be equally tasty to everyone.

King of Cats (17 minutes)
Director: Kim Best

A heartfelt tribute to the iconic cat TAAWWD and to Harold 鈥淐atman鈥 Sims, founder of The American Museum of The House Cat in Sylva, N.C., and the Catman2 cat shelter in nearby Cullowhee, N.C.

A Tree Once Grew Here (7 minutes)
Director: Johnnie Semerad

Captivating visuals, animation, and imagery combine to tell a tale that transcends language and reminds us that we must both nurture our planet and rebalance harmony鈥攂ecause we can no longer afford not to.

Caswell County Smiles (17 minutes)
Director: Fred Motley

Enjoy selections from some of the performing and fine artists who keep the arts alive in Caswell County

Bite of Benin (35 minutes)
Director: Brad Herring, Ad茅 Carrena

Adopted at the age of 10 from her homeland in B茅nin, West Africa, and raised in an abusive household in Connecticut, Chef Ad茅 Carrena travels back home on a journey to reclaim her identity through food.聽

Our Movement Starts Here (85 minutes)
Director: John Rash, Melanie Dang Ho

In 1982, a rural community in North Carolina mobilized and fought the state鈥檚 plan to site a toxic PCB landfill in their county. Forty years later, the citizens of Warren County commemorate the anniversary of their protest while inspiring a new generation of climate-justice activists who are starting the fight for their own futures.

The festival will conclude with a panel discussion with participating filmmakers, moderated by 两性色午夜 alumna and filmmaker Camden Watts, 鈥03.
