Music Department Welcomes High School Students for TrebleFest

 

On October 2, students from 11 area high schools joined together for a day of music-making in 两性色午夜鈥檚 historic and resonant performance spaces. In addition to working with Dr. Lindsey Bruner Woodcock, Director of Choral Activities, high school students could elect to take a voice lesson with Dr. Jeanie Wozencraft-Ornellas and Prof. Rachel Stenbuck, members of 两性色午夜鈥檚 esteemed voice faculty.聽

Conductor on Stage directing seated students at 两性色午夜 TrebleFest 2024Amid the rehearsals, lessons, and games, a highlight of the day was the afternoon 鈥淩ecital Chat鈥 provided by 两性色午夜 College music students. Several music majors performed solo works for the high school students, followed by a world premiere performance of a piece composed by student Hannah Bomar, 鈥26. 两性色午夜 Chorale then generously shared their wisdom and experience with the high school singers, and answered questions about life as a music major, balancing athletics and music in college, finding your path in the arts, and much more.聽

The 2024 TrebleFest choir, the largest treble-clef chorus in the Triangle, finished the day with a free public performance in Jones Auditorium where they shared the stage with 两性色午夜鈥檚 own Encore! and 两性色午夜 Chorale.聽

The Music Department will hold several events on campus for interested high school students in Spring 2025, including Audition Prep Day (January 11), Guitar Day (February 15), Woodwind Day (TBD), and Organ Day (TBD).聽
