Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ College is a signatory school on articulation agreements with the North Carolina Community College System that apply to students with associate degrees in Fine Arts, Music, or Theatre.

Art

Students who have completed an Associate of Fine Arts degree in Fine Arts may enroll at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ in pursuit of a B.A. in Graphic Design or Studio Art.

As part of the transfer Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹s process, students are required to submit a portfolio of their work to the art department. The portfolio will be evaluated to determine transfer credit for specific courses taken at the community college and placement into art courses the student’s first semester at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹.

Upon completion of the associate’s degree at a North Carolina community college, all general education requirements for the B.A. in Graphic Design or Studio Art at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ College are considered met with the exception of the foreign language and health and physical learning requirements.

Music

Students who have completed an Associate of Fine Arts degree in Music at a North Carolina community college may enroll at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ in pursuit of a B.A. in Music or a B.M. in Performance.

As part of the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹s process, students are required to audition with the music department and to complete a music theory placement exam and a keyboard proficiency test.

Upon completion of the associate’s degree at a North Carolina community college, all general education requirements for the B.A. in Music at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ College are considered met with the exception of the foreign language and health and physical learning requirements.

Theatre

Students who have completed an Associate of Fine Arts degree in Theatre at a North Carolina community college may enroll at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ in pursuit of a B.A. in Theatre.

In addition to the courses required for an associate’s degree in theatre at a North Carolina community college, it is recommended that students take DRA 111 Theatre Appreciation toward the 12-14 additional credit hours required to complete the associate’s degree in theatre.

At least 50% of courses within the major for the B.A. in Theatre must be completed at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹. Students should therefore plan to take no more than a total of 21 credits of Theatre courses at the community college. These credits include 15 required credits in Theatre, DRA 111 (recommended), and 3 additional credits from the appropriate list below:

Acting Track students: DRA 120, 131, 140, 260

Technical Track students: DRA 120, 130, 131, 260

Upon completion of the associate’s degree at a North Carolina community college, all general education requirements for the B.A. in Theatre at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ College are considered met with the exception of the foreign language and health and physical learning requirements.

Art, Music, or Theatre Education

Students who have completed an Associate of Fine Arts degree in Fine Arts at a North Carolina community college may choose to pursue a B.A. in Art Education at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹. Students who have completed an Associate of Fine Arts degree in Music may choose to pursue a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education at Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹. Students who have completed an Associate of Fine Arts degree in Theatre may choose to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree with K-12 licensure in Theatre. Please note that these degrees, with licensure, will require additional credits.
